Development is an active peer-reviewed scholarly journal published quarterly by Palgrave Macmillan. Launched in 1957, it is the flagship journal of the Society for International Development (SID) and offers alternative perspectives on civil society, development policy and community based strategies for livelihood, gender and social justice.

Each thematic issue features original articles by researchers, activists, and alternative thinkers that address and explore crucial issues in development, including reports on collective initiatives at the local, regional and international levels. It also contains book recommendations and websites of international and regional organizations involved in the selected subject, together with reviews of new literature. Occasional special-focus issues are dedicated to a particular topic of interest. 

The Internet Archive Collection contains microfilm published between 1981 and 2005.
